The State Committee for Property Affairs of Azerbaijan does not rule out the increase in market value of production associations Aztelekom and Baku Telephone Communication of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan, the head of the apparatus of the State Committee Ilgar Gabiev told Trend on Tuesday.
He said the rise in the cost of production associations is related to the investments of operators in the reconstruction of telecommunications nodes and the network component.
"Recently, we conducted an inventory and assessment of the state-owned enterprises of communication. These businesses are continuing to invest in expansion of their networks, and the cost will be defined during the privatization. It is possible that the cost of enterprises will rise," Gabiev said.
According to Gabiev, the assessment conducted previously by the State Committee was preparatory. Final assessment procedure will be held following the decision on their privatization.
As the head of the apparatus of the state committee said, to date, the issue of privatization of the structural units of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan is not as acute, and there is no accurate information regarding completion of the procedure.
However, this issue is on the agenda, and privatization of these enterprises will be implemented at a later stage of privatization of the telecommunications sector.
In general, according to Gabiev, a total of 30 companies with equity participation of the Ministry of Communications have been privatized so far in the telecommunications sector of Azerbaijan.
As the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan informed Trend earlier, the agency has prepared and submitted to the government the necessary documents on the change of the form of ownership of the state communication enterprises, production associations Aztelekom and Baku Telephone Communication, to open joint stock companies.
After the completion of the restructuring process, privatization will be launched, which will create a healthy competitive environment in the telecommunications market of Azerbaijan.
