Number of mobile e-signature owners increases in Azerbaijan

The total number of issued Asan İmza mobile e-signature certificates in Azerbaijan for the first quarter of 2014 increased by approximately 5.9 percent, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Taxes told Trend on March 31.

The Asan certification service centre issued 1322 certificates between January- March, the ministry said.

The total number of issued Asan İmza mobile e-signatures is 23,759 units. Some 12,352 units were issued to legal entities, while 11,339 to individuals and 68 to civil servants.

The Asan certification service centre received accreditation from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Communications and High Technologies on April 9, 2013. The centre is authorised to issue advanced certificates for an enhanced electronic signature to public and local self-government bodies, legal and individual entities.

Established in accordance with an order of the Ministry of Taxes, the Asan certificate service centre issues certificates for the authenticity and digital signature for mobile SIM-cards (Asan İmza) and renders other services ensuring the usage of certificates and judicially obligatory digital signatures by state organisations, private sector and citizens.

The platform of the Asan imza mobile signature centre has been integrated into the Azerbaijani mobile operators' platform Azercell Telecom and Bakcell.

It is necessary to change SIM-cards to use the mobile digital signature. The work on integration with the platform of Azerfon operator with the NarMobile trade mark is currently under completion.

Tariffs for using ASAN-imza in the operators' networks are as follows. For the general population - 30 manat (for three years), for civil servants - 80 manat (for three years) and for individual and legal entities engaged in entrepreneurial activity it will be 154 manat for three years. A monthly fee for using ASAN-imza service was set at one manat for commercial organisations and 0.5 manat for the population and public servants.

The official exchange rate is 0.7843 AZN/USD on March 31.
