Azerbaijan's ICT market expects a rapid growth in the coming three years, Burak Buyukdemir, the founder of Turkish start-up incubator 'Etohum' told Trend on May 31.

Buyukdemir said there will be a large growth in the e-commerce and other sectors related to the electronic trading (new banking applications, payment systems, etc.)

A large growth is expected in the mobile applications sector, particularly in gaming applications, he noted.

"Certainly, the government's care is very important in this area. Construction of the High-Tech Park can be an example for this," Beyukdemir stressed.

He went on to add that major projects like Twitter, WhatsUp, Facebook, etc. may appear in Azerbaijan in case if there are conditions necessary for this.

"And, we can say such projects are already being implemented. For instance, today an Azerbaijani project received financial support worth $5 million in the Silicon Valley. I have repeatedly been to Azerbaijan. I can definitely say the country has high interest in the IT-business and this tendency is growing each year," Buyukdemir stressed.

He underscored that Azerbaijan aspires to become a technological hub in the Central Asia.

Buyukdemir also said it is possible that the next events, to be held in this region, will get such big names as 'Startup Azerbaijan' or 'Startup Eurasia'.
