All the facilities, where competitions and other activities of the first European Games 2015 in Baku will be held, will be covered by free access to Wi-Fi, Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan Elmir Velizade told Trend May 5.

He said that work on laying fiber optic lines with a length over 270 kilometers has been completed within the preparation of telecommunication infrastructure for the upcoming European Games.

Resources of the optic infrastructure will be used to ensure the smooth flow of data from existing and new sport arenas in Baku and Mingachevir, he said.

"All conditions for rendering voice and internet services have been created in the arenas," said Velizade. "Four satellites, including Azerbaijani Azerspace-1, have been enabled for broadcasting of European Games around the world. "In addition, a series of stamps dedicated to the first European Games have been issued."

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
