Norway is looking forward to the first European Games in Baku and believes that they will be well organized, Norwegian Olympic Committee told Trend May 8.

"Our official goal is 3 medals in the senior competitions, 2 quota places for Rio, and important experience and learning for our juniors," said the committee.

"With reference to Pan American Games, African Games etc, we hope that there is potential for a high level multi sport event every fourth year also in Europe. Many of the sports are giving top priority to European Games, and hopefully these Games will be a strong tradition in the future."

The committee also said that for some sports European Games is the highlight of this year, as they represent the European Championships for them.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

With regards to the Norway's team, the committee said the preparations are going well, and they hope to show up with a well prepared team.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent that will take place on June 12-28, 2015. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
