Investigative bodies are looking into the incident involving Austrian female athletes in Baku, Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov told reporters June 12.

"At present, the investigation is underway in connection with the incident with Austrian female athletes in Baku June 11," he said. "The society will be informed of the results."

"As a result of the incident, three Austrian female athletes were slightly injured," he said. "Currently, the state of the two female athletes is normal. The third female athlete is in a hospital in Vienna."

The minister also said that the Azerbaijani side will pay for the treatment of the Austrian female athletes who have suffered as a result of the incident.

He said that in this regard, the Azerbaijani embassy in Austria renders the necessary assistance.

An accident has recently occurred on the territory of the transport depot in the village of athletes. Three Austrian female athletes were injured.

Baku 2015 is the first-ever European Games, an exciting and innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take place on June 12-28, 2015.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
