Azerbaijani female athlete Mariya Stadnik, competing in wrestling among women in the weight category of 48 kg, gained a victory over the female athlete from Poland Iwona Matkowska with the score of 8:2 and reached the finals.
The other Azerbaijani female athlete - Natalya Sinishin, competing in the weight category of 55 kg, lost to the Swedish female athlete Sofia Mattsson with the score of 5:6 and will be competing for the bronze medal.
The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28.
There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
