Azerbaijani taekwondo fighters Farida Azizova and Milad Baigi Harchegani reached the quarterfinals of the competition as part of the European Games in Baku.

Azizova, acting in the weight category of 67 kg, was stronger than Joyce van Baaren, the athlete from the Netherlands. The match ended with the score of 2: 0.

Harchegani, acting in the weight category of 80 kilograms, did not leave any chance to Serbian athlete Damir Feyzich. Harchegani ended the match with a score of 12: 0 ahead of time.

The European Games kicked off in Baku June 12 and will last till June 28.

There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.

More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
