Azerbaijan organized the first European Games at the highest level, participant of the first European Games, Irish boxer Katie Taylor told Trend.

Taylor said that the European Games are important for her, and she is happy to take part in this historic sporting event.

"The first European Games in Baku are organized at the highest level," she said. "All conditions for the athletes are created in Azerbaijan."

Taylor said that she likes Baku a lot.

"Baku is a beautiful city, people here are very friendly and hospitable," said the athlete.

The European Games that kicked off in Baku June 12, will last till June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.

More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
