Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev took part on June 26 in the ceremonies of awarding the winners of men's boxing events at the Baku 2015 European Games.

Azerbaijani boxer Elvin Mamishzada captured the gold medal in the men's 52 kg boxing event, defeating his opponent from Italy, Picardi Vincenzo, who settled for the silver medal.

Hamza Touba (Germany) and Viliam Tanko (Slovakia) shared the bronze medal, both coming in third place in this event.

The gold medal in the men's 64 kg boxing event was won by the Azerbaijani athlete Collazo Sotomayor.

In the final match he defeated the Italian athlete Vincenzo Mangiacapre.

Ukraine's Viktor Petrov and Germany's Kastriot Sopa shared the bronze medals of this event.

President Ilham Aliyev personally awarded the winners of both boxing events.

The European Games that kicked off June 12, will last till June 28. There is a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports.

More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe came to Baku to represent their nations over 17 days of competition. Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012.
