BTC transports over 19 million metric tons of oil

Around 19.57 million metric tons of oil was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline in Jan.-Aug. 2014, versus 20.22 million metric tons in the same period of 2013, Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee said in its report.

BTC transported some 29.7 million metric tons of oil in 2013, versus 29.67 million metric tons in 2012.

As of September 1 2014, some 254.9 million metric tons of oil have been transported through the pipeline during the whole period of its operation.

Some 19.03 million metric tons of oil have been supplied to world markets from the Ceyhan Turkish port in January to August against around 19.9 million metric tons in January to August 2012.

Over 29.2 million metric tons of oil has been supplied to world markets from the Turkish port of Ceyhan last year against 29.3 million metric tons in 2012.

As of September 1 2014, 252.18 million metric tons of Azerbaijani oil has been supplied to world markets from Jeyhan during the whole period of its operation.

The total length of the BТС is 1,768 kilometers including a 443 kilometer long section running through Azerbaijan, a 249 kilometer long section in Georgia and a 1,076 kilometer long section in Turkey. The construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (five percent), Total (five percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
