Azerbaijani users to have quick access to global Internet content

The world's largest CDN provider Akamai will install servers in Azerbaijan, a source in the telecommunications market told Trend.

Allocation of Akamai servers in Azerbaijan will significantly reduce access time of mobile and fixed Internet users to Akamai customers content (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, European Space Agency, IBM, Microsoft, and others), according to the source.

Installation of Akamai servers in Azerbaijan will be completed before the end of the year. Currently Azerbaijani users have access to global content through the DE-CIX Internet traffic exchange point.

Content delivery networks organization technology CDN (Content Delivery Network) is a powerful system of distributed servers, allowing to cache data in different geographical parts of the world, which increases the download speed of Internet resources.

Akamai CDN-servers help manage traffic on the most visited Internet sites by preserving their content and redistributing the information flows within the global network. CDN-servers are also used to repel DoS-attacks.
