Ukraine launches channel for operational broadcasting via Azerbaijani satellite

Ukrainian state-run enterprise Ukrkosmos is launching new project called SatExpress to provide broadcasters with satellite capacity for a short term to organize operational broadcasts from reporting sites, videoconferencing, and video transfers.

Ukrkosmos said in a message on Sept. 15 that the SatExpress will be available via Azerbaijan's Azerspace-1 satellite (46 degrees of east longitude) with coverage areas that include Ukraine, Central Europe and Central Asia.

The satellite transponder's capacity will be offered for any period starting from 15 minutes with the possibility of prolonging the period of use.

SatExpress satellite's capacities are as follows:

Range: Ku

Uplіnk: 13750-14000 MHz

Downlіnk: 10950-11200 MHz

Polarization: Linear

Azerbaijan's first telecommunications satellite called Azerspace/Africasat-1a was launched on Feb. 8, 2013.

The satellite is designed to render such services as digital television, data transmission, creation of VSAT multiservice networks, and providing government communications.

The satellite's service area covers Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa.
