Over 2,650 oil tankers take off from Ceyhan oil terminal since 2006

Over 2.03 billion barrels of oil has been shipped since June 2, 2006 till now from the Ceyhan oil terminal by Turkish Botas International Limited (BIL) versus 2 billion barrels as of July 22, BIL said Sept. 22.

BIL has been engaged in the operation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline in Turkey since 2001.

Some 2,657 tankers have been shipped from the terminal since 2006 till now.

The total length of the BTC is 1,768 kilometres, some 443 kilometres of which run through Azerbaijan, 249 kilometres through Georgia and 1,076 through Turkey. The pipeline's construction started in April 2003 and was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

The shareholders of BTC Co. which was established Aug. 1, 2002 are BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
