By Emil Ismayilov - Trend:

With the growth of passenger traffic, the Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) may increase the number of flights to the U.S., the deputy head of AZAL, Sabir Ilyasov told reporters Sept. 24.

He said that from this day on (Sept. 24), AZAL launched flights to New York.

For now the flights to the U.S. will be carried out twice a week, but in the winter schedule the flights will be conducted three times a week.

"The flights in this direction can be increased with the growth of the passenger traffic," Ilyasov said.

Work is underway with regional airports in Azerbaijan with regard to the upcoming increase in passenger traffic to the United States.

These airports could help in bringing passengers from Azerbaijan's regions to Baku, for them to reach the final destination.

Touching upon the issue of launching new long flights, Ilyasov said that currently the possibilities of conducting flights to the South-East Asia are being studied.

Ilyasov added that, in connection with the Baku 2015 First European Games, AZAL is planning to increase flights to the European countries, to which it is conducting direct flights.

AZAL is also planning to include other airlines to the work on ensuring the transportations during the First European Games, so that to organize connecting flights.
