Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met with Afghan Foreign Minister Zarar Ahmad Osmani at the UN General Assembly's 69th Session, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said Sept. 26.

During the meeting the parties expressed satisfaction with the current level of development of relations between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan, Azerbaijan's ministry said.

The two countries' foreign ministers mulled the projects, which are being realized in the region with Azerbaijan's involvement and initiative, including the project on construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway.

The ministry said that during the meeting Osmani voiced Afghanistan's interest in getting an access to this corridor through Central Asia.

The parties also reviewed the expansion of the contractual and legal framework between the two countries, inviting Azerbaijan to participate infrastructure projects in Afghanistan and cooperation within international organizations.

The sides also exchanged views on bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan, as well as other issues of mutual interest, the ministry said.
