Turkey reduces investments in Azerbaijan's economy

In January-March 2015, Turkey invested $114 million in Azerbaijan's economy, which is 16.8 percent less than the same period last year, said the report of the Central Bank of Turkey for the first quarter of 2015, posted on its website.

For comparison, in January-March 2014 the volume of direct investments of Turkey to Azerbaijan amounted to $137 million.

In January of 2015, Turkey invested in Azerbaijan's economy $17 million, in February - $14 million, in March - $83 million, according to the report.

The share of Azerbaijan in the total volume of Turkish investments for the period amounted to 13.3 percent.

Azerbaijan ranks third among the countries to which Turkey is investing. Leading positions on this indicator belong to: the US - $266 million (31.1 percent), the Netherlands - $127 million (14.85 percent).

In general, during the reporting period the Turkish investors have invested in foreign countries $855 million, which is 20.47 percent less than in January-March 2014.

Last year, the volume of direct investments of Turkey to Azerbaijan's economy amounted to $1.9 billion, which is the highest rate since 2003. Turkish investments to Azerbaijan in 2003 amounted to $235 million, in 2004 - $427 million, in 2005 - $481 million, in 2006 - $441 million, in 2007 - $337 million, in 2008 - $273 million, in 2009 - $239 million, in 2010 - $216 million, in 2011 - $297 million, in 2012 - $373 million, in 2013 - $450 million.
