Azerbaijani State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources conducts test trials on Yeni Yashma new wind farm

Azerbaijani State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources conducts test trials on Yeni Yashma new wind farm, the press service of the state agency told Trend.

"As of today, simultaneous testing of 18 turbines of the 20 ones of the power plant is underway," said the press service. "After completion of the tests and their connection to the overall power grid, the station will be running at full capacity."

The production capacity of Yeni Yashma wind farm is 50 megawatt. It is located in Azerbaijan's Khizi district.

It is planned to construct up to 100 facilities for generating alternative electricity in Azerbaijan within 5 years, according to the preliminary studies.

The volume of investments made in the development of the alternative energy sphere in Azerbaijan reached 63.6 million Azerbaijani manats in 2014. Of this volume, 34.9 million manats accounted for the development of the solar energy sphere and 28.7 million manats - wind power. In total, around 800 million manats have been invested in this sphere in Azerbaijan since 2000.

Azerbaijani State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources was created by the decree of the head of state Feb.1, 2013.
