ADB Baku office head’s term of office nearing end

The powers of the head of the Baku office of the Asian Development Bank (Ollie Norojono will end the beginning of October 2015, the Baku office of ADB told Trend Sept.9.

The Baku representative office said that it is not known who will replace him.

In connection with the completion of his term of office, Norojono met with Finance Minister Samir Sharifov, according to a report released by the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, the minister said that the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ADB is developing successfully, as evidenced by the 48th meeting of Council of heads of the Asian Development Bank conducted in May in Baku.

Sharifov highly assessed the activity of Norojono in Azerbaijan, noted his merits in the expansion of bilateral cooperation and wished the head of the representative office success in his future activities.

In turn, Norojono mentioned sustainable economic development of Azerbaijan and expressed confidence in the continuation of the successful implementation of joint projects.

ADB was founded in 1966 and has 67 members. The bank's headquarters is located in Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Azerbaijan became ADB member on December 22, 1999. The country's share in the bank's capital is 0.5 percent.

ADB's leading shareholders are Japan and the United States (31.2 percent of the total share capital), India and China (12.8 percent), Australia, South Korea and Canada (16 percent) and so on.

Since the beginning of cooperation, the Asian Development Bank has allocated over $1.6 billion to Azerbaijan to implement the projects in the sphere of road construction, energy, irrigation, improving water supply and sewerage systems.
