Rostelecom PJSC is ready to participate in the construction of the Trans Eurasian Information Super Highway (TASIM) project in the Caspian region, Andrey Polyakov, the head of the company's PR division told Trend.

At the same time, TASIM's construction is not planned for the near future, he said.

Some intent memorandums were signed on the project, but there are no binding agreements on the highway's construction, he added.

"We are ready to accept the final decision upon the evaluation of specific information provided by all participants of the project," he said.

Today TASIM project is planned to be created from areas with different equipment and different capacity, which is difficult for acceptable operation and service, he noted.

Polyakov also said that Rostelecom expects concrete proposals on TASIM project from the Azerbaijani side, but he did not elaborate what exactly.

Construction of TASIM envisages the creation of a major transit link from Frankfurt to Hong Kong. The network, which will bring together major information exchange centers of Europe and Asia, will run through the territory of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey to Germany.

Such countries as Russia (operator "Rostelecom"), Kazakhstan (operator KazTransCom), Turkey (operator TurkTelecom), China (operator China Telecom) are involved in TASIM project. Azerbaijan is represented in the project by AzInTelecom (formerly the International Relations and Accounting Center of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies).
