The unsecured preferential loans worth 53 million manats were delivered to the farmers in the Azerbaijani districts in 2015, Shahin Mustafayev, the Azerbaijani Economy Minister, said.

He made the remarks Jan. 26, at a session on banking activities held as part of a conference dedicated to the results of the second year of implementation of the 2014-2018 State Program on Socio-Economic Development of Districts of Azerbaijan.

Mustafayev said that some 32 non-bank credit organizations were involved in the cooperation.

"The preferential loans worth 213 million manats were delivered to 5,100 entrepreneurs in 2015 for financing investment projects in the agricultural sector," he said.

"Some 43 poultry farms, 25 livestock farms, 39 intensive gardening complexes, 53 logistics centers, 22 grain barns, various fruit, vegetable, milk, meat processing plants, 28 bread factories, 46 hothouses and other enterprises have recently opened through the preferential loans," he said. "They increased the export potential, reduced dependence on imports and enhanced food security."

"The National Entrepreneurship Support Fund delivered preferential loans worth 248.5 million manats to 5,243 entrepreneurs in 2015 to enhance financial support for the private sector," he said. "Up to 12,600 new jobs will be created through these funds."

"In total, some 110,000 new jobs were created in 2015," he said. "Some 84,000 jobs are permanent. Some 40,000 workplaces were closed for various reasons."
