New BP Azerbaijan vice president on midstream operations appointed

Sangachal Terminal Area Operation Manager at BP Azerbaijan Zaur Pashayev has been appointed to the role of the company's vice president on midstream operations in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey (AGT) region, Tamam Bayatly, communications manager of the Communication and External Affairs department at BP Azerbaijan, told Trend June 8.

She added that Pashayev will assume his office starting from September 1, 2016.

In this role Pashayev becomes a member of BP's Global Operations Organization, Upstream and AGT regional leadership teams and will be accountable for safe, reliable and efficient operation of the AGT Midstream Organization.

In this position he will replace Craig Wiggs, who has been appointed to the role of vice president for safety and operational risk in another region of BP's business, starting from September 1, 2016.

Over the past 18 years with BP, Pashayev has built deep operations experience in the offshore and onshore business. Prior to his current position as the area operations manager (Sangachal Terminal), he worked in AGT offshore as the Shah Deniz area operations manager and Chirag 1 platform offshore installation manager.

Early in his career he also worked in various leadership roles in midstream export pipelines.

Pashayev graduated from the Azerbaijan Oil Academy with an honours diploma and holds a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. In 2011, he graduated from the BP Operations Academy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, US.

In 2001 Pashayev was awarded the Progress Medal by the President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev for his significant contribution to the development of the oil and gas industry in Azerbaijan.

He is married and is a father of three children.

BP in Azerbaijan is operating the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of oil and gas fields and the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field.

The company is also a member of such pipeline projects as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline and the South Caucasus Pipeline, meant for gas transportation.
