Azerbaijan, Indonesia keen to expand trade relations

Azerbaijan and Indonesia have great potential for the development of trade relations, said Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono, Sultan of Indonesia’s Yogyakarta Sultanate.

He made the remarks during the meeting with Azerbaijani businessmen, the Indonesian embassy in Baku told Trend Oct. 19.

During the meeting, Sultan told the guests that the Yogyakarta city is a center of industry and education, said the embassy.

The delegation also held a meeting with the Deputy Head of the city’s Chamber of Commerce Wawan Hermawan, local entrepreneurs, as well as visited a textile factory. The sides discussed the opportunities to develop business.

A group of representatives of the ‘Silk Road’ Public Union for Promotion of Development of Entrepreneurship, Indonesian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Husnan Bey Fananie and a number of the embassy employees are on a visit to Indonesia.

The delegation visited Jakarta to attend the Trade Expo Indonesia 2016.

Azerbaijani entrepreneurs are also holding meetings in various cities of Indonesia in order to develop business cooperation between the two sides.

Trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $101.73 million in January-August 2016, according to Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.
