The Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM hopes that the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan will be held in accordance with the international norms and the country's law, the organization's Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili told Trend Oct.20.

The secretary general of GUAM which brings together Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova, said that observing the presidential and parliamentary elections in the organization's member states has become a good tradition.

GUAM will send its observers for the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan to be held Nov.1, said Chechelashvili, adding that the delegation of the organization's observers consisting of three people will arrive in Baku Oct.31.

Touching upon the organization's activities, the secretary general said that the meeting of foreign ministers of GUAM member states will be held in early December in Belgrade, Serbia as part of the OSCE Ministerial Meeting.

He added that during the GUAM meeting, Azerbaijan will present the priorities of its chairmanship in the organization for 2016.

Among the most important events of GUAM in 2015, Chechelashvili pointed out the meeting of the Steering Committee on implementation of GUAM Trade and Transportation Facilitation (TTF) Project.

"A serious document was signed during that meeting held in Baku in May and the second document will be signed during the next meeting in Tbilisi in December," he said.

The document simplifies the mechanisms of interaction between the customs authorities of the GUAM countries and will allow to develop the trade and improve the potential of GUAM's transit transport corridor, the secretary general added.
