Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry is accrediting the foreign media representatives in line with the accreditation rules, enshrined in the 'Mass Media Law', the secki-2015.az website quoted Hikmet Hajiyev, head of the ministry's press service, as saying.

He further said the media representatives accredited at the Foreign Ministry must register with Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission (CEC).

"Only after that they can cover the electoral process," said Hajiyev.

Parliamentary election in Azerbaijan will take place November 1.

Hajiyev also said that the Foreign Ministry provides an e-accreditation service to simplify this process.

"The Foreign Ministry has received numerous applications from international media structures that will cover the upcoming parliamentary election," said Hajiyev. "This suggests their interest in the election."

He also noted that there are representatives of foreign media who are accredited in Azerbaijan on a permanent basis.

"In addition, we receive applications regarding short-term accreditation and election coverage as well," said Hajiyev. "In general, media structures of Turkey, Russia and the EU dominate among the foreign media representatives who applied to cover the electoral process. There are also applications from the United States and Israel."

The spokesman commented on the attempts of some foreign circles to discredit Azerbaijan in the pre-election period. Hajiyev said that the forces, which don't like the development of Azerbaijan, cannot influence the election.

"The necessary conditions for free, democratic and transparent voting have been created at this election, as always," said Hajiyev. "Numerous local and foreign observers will be watching the election. The will of Azerbaijani voters will determine the results of the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan."
