Azerbaijani authorities' main task is to hold free, transparent and democratic parliamentary election, and the country has a political and legal framework to do so, says Ali Ahmadov, Azerbaijani deputy prime minister and deputy chairman - executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.
Azerbaijan has a democratic electoral environment and the current public and political situation makes it possible to hold transparent election, the secki-2015.az website quoted Ahmadov as saying at a meeting with Russian journalists Oct. 28.
Further speaking about the New Azerbaijan Party's expectations from the upcoming parliamentary election, Ahmadov said the ruling party intends to repeat its success achieved five years ago.
He said that Azerbaijan's achievements springing from successful policy of the country's authorities create great bases for a successful election campaign of each candidate of the New Azerbaijan Party and for the party's victory at the election.
"During the last parliamentary election, 71 candidates from the New Azerbaijan Party received mandates, which constitutes 60 percent of the MP seats," he further said. "During the current election too, we have an opportunity to repeat our victory."
Ahmadov also spoke about the OSCE/ODIHR's refusal to send an observation mission to the Nov. 1 parliamentary election.
"It is unknown on what basis that organization made such a decision, but I think that this will not affect the election," he added.
Azerbaijan will hold parliamentary election Nov. 1. As many as 769 MP candidates have been registered take part in the election.
Earlier, Azerbaijan's Central Election Commission accredited 465 observers from 36 international structures for them to observe the Nov. 1 election. Missions representing 53 countries will also be involved in the election observation.
