Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct.15
By Anakhanum Khidayatova - Trend:
OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs James Warlick (the US), Igor Popov (Russia) and Pierre Andrieu (France) will visit the region Oct.28, an informed source told Trend Oct.15.
During the visit, the co-chairs will discuss the details of the upcoming meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents.
The Minsk Group, the activities of which have become known as the Minsk Process, spearheads the OSCE's efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
