Armenian armed forces have 24 times violated the ceasefire with Azerbaijan on the line of contact over the past 24 hours, said the message from Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry June 14.

Armenian armed forces, stationed in the villages of Paravakar and Berkaber of Armenia's Ijevan district, opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces in the villages of Kohnegishlag of Aghstafa district and Gizilhajili of Gazakh district.

Azerbaijani positions, located in the villages of Gushchu Ayrim and Kemerli of Gazakh district, underwent fire from the positions located in the villages of Voskevan and Doveh of Armenia's Noyemberyan district.

Meanwhile, Azerbaijani positions located on the nameless heights of Gadabay district took fire from the positions located on the nameless heights of Armenia's Krasnoselsk district.

Moreover, Azerbaijani positions underwent fire from the positions located near the village of Chileburt of Terter district, Merzili of Aghdam, Kuropatkino of Khojavend, Garakhanbeyli, Horadiz, Ashagi Seyidahmadli of Fizuli and from the nameless heights in Goranboy, Khojavend, Fizuli and Jabrayil districts.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
