INT’L SEMINAR �FREE ECONOMY’ STARTS IN BAKU

An international workshop �Free Economy’ started its work in Baku on Thursday, Trend reports.

Organized by Frederikh Naumann Fund and the New Economic School of Georgia the seminar brought together representatives the Naumann Fund, the New Economic School of Georgia, the Bulgarian Institute of Market Economy, as well as representatives from the non-governmental organizations active in

Azerbaijan.

In his opening remarks the Director of the Fund on the South Caucasus countries, noted that the organization was arranging different training and seminars on this topic in many countries, including the countries with transition economy. The similar seminar was last held in Georgia in February 2005.

After a delegate from Bulgaria informed the participants on the principles, concept and methodology of economic freedom worldwide. The speakers stressed thesis on high-level taxation which has negative impact on the community incomes. More freedom more economic growth and more incomes for poor people,” he underlined.

Such results were obtained during the monitoring held in 124 world countries by different financial institutes, in particular, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Besides, the gathering also discussed the negative impact of the cРѕrruption on the economic freedom and its upgrade.

The seminar also mulled issues concerning the inclusion of Azerbaijan in the list of 124 countries where the Naumann Fund observes the economy freedom every year.

The workshop continued by broad discussions with the participation of representatives from Azerbaijani NGOs and Georgian and Bulgarian specialists attending the workshop.
