BSU TAKES INVALUABLE ROLE IN DEVELOPMENT OF AZER-RUSSIAN RELATIONS, RUSSIAN PRESIDENT

В"It is pleasant that the Russian language and literature are taught at the Baku Slavic University at the initiative of Heydar Aliyev, the national Azerbaijani leader. The BSU plays an inconsiderable role in the development of the relationships between two countries,В" said a letter of Russian President Vladimir Putin devoted to the 5th anniversary of the BSU, Trend reports.

The solemn ceremony devoted to the 5th anniversary of the BSU was held on Friday with participation of Education Minister Misir Mardanov, MPs, heads of the diplomatic corps of the foreign countries, accredited in Azerbaijan.

In his opening remarks Mardanov said that over the past 5 years the BSU had traversed the path equal to 50 years. Mardanov noted the BSU continues cooperation with the world leading universities.

Pyotr Burdikin, the charge d’affaires of Russia, Anatoliy Yurchenko, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Matsin Navrut, the Ambassador of Poland, employees of the Turkish and Greek embassies congratulated the BSU on its 5th anniversary and wished success to the university in the ceremony. The letters of congratulation by Georgiy Pirvanov, the Bulgarian President, Ivan Plyush, the former speaker of the Supreme Rada of Ukraine (1990-1994, 1998-2002), Jelio Jeleva, the former President of the Bulgarian Republic (1990-1997), Aleksiy II, the patriarchy of Moscow and Entire Russia, K.Stepanopulos, the President of the Greek Republic, were read out in the ceremony. The official ceremony was followed by a concert program.
