IRANIAN CITIZENS VOTE IN SECOND ROUND OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN

On Friday the Iranian citizens, residing in Azerbaijan, voted in the second round of elections of the Iranian President. The voting is held at the Consular department of the Iranian embassy in Azerbaijan.

The voting was adjourned for 3 hours due to the delay in supply of voting papers. Over 1000 citizens are expected to vote in Baku and Nakhchivan. In the first 650 people voted in Baku and around 100 in Nakhcivan.

At 16.00 [local time] Afshar Suleymani, the Iranian Ambassador, came to the voting place. 250-300 people have used their right of vote by that time. He was satisfied with the activities of the electors. The electors are to select between two candidates to the presidency вЂ" ex-President Ali Akbar Khashemi Rafsanjani and Mayor of Tehran Mahmud Ahmadi Nejat. The voting will be held by 21.00pm. The Ambassador voiced his assurance that Rafsanjani can be considered a winner even without calculating the votes. He grounded his assurance with the activity of the electors and pre-elections campaign.
