ROUNDTABLE ON TOPIC “TRUTH ABOUT IREVAN IN HISTORY OF UNIFIED AZERBAIJANВ"

On June 27, at the International press club a roundtable on the subject В"The truth about Irevan in the history of the unified Azerbaijan”, staged by the В"Baki DircelisВ" Public Association (PA) has been held. At the event historians, scholars, researches and representatives of intelligentsia marked the facts of dividing of Azerbaijani lands and joining them to other countries, Trend reports.

The В"Baki Dircelis PA chairman, Abbasaga Mamedov noted, that Director of the Human Rights Institute under the National Academy of Sciences, Professor Rovshan Mustafayev included the fact of giving Irevan to Armenia in 1918 on the agenda. In this regard, the necessity for bringing this historical research to the world public has emerged.

Mamedov noted, that he would apply to Mustafayev with the proposal to hold all-republican conference on this subject.

According to him, regular events, conferences are needed to be held to include the facts, confirming the conditions and terms of delivery the Azerbaijani historical lands to Armenians.

Professor Aydin Djabbaroglu noted in his report, that the Azerbaijani lands turned into the polygon of trilateral interests during the Russo-Iranian war 1804-1813: Persian-Russian forces, Europeans and local Turks.

At the result of the consistent policy of separation Azerbaijanis from their national awareness, indifferent attitude to their territories, Irevan, Zangezur, Gafan and other areas had been given to Armenia, and Borchali - to Georgia. He also informed of the fact, that after declaration of independence in 1918, the Russia’s government, allegedly, for establishing the atmosphere of peace and quietness in the Caucasu, forced the Azerbaijani government by putting pressure and threats, to give Irevan to Armenia.

According to Professor, this historical tragedy served as the start for the subsequent loss of other historical lands of Azerbaijan.

Leader of the Azerbaijan’s Diaspora Centre, Rauf Zeyni noted, that the territory currently called Armenia is the ancient historical land of Azerbaijan.

He noted, that in 1918, immediately after establishing the national government, the Armenian authorities applied to them with the request to give them Irevan as the administrative center. The National Council of Azerbaijan, taking confederative ties as a basis, took a decision to give Irevan to Armenia. At the result of voting the majority of the National Council confirmed the fact of delivery.

Historians Alikram Alekberov, Namik Aliyev and other informed of the historical facts on belonging of Irevan to Azerbaijanis, giving the city to Armenians, their occupational policy. The reporters noted the necessity for informing the world public on the facts of building by Armenians of their statehood on the Azerbaijani lands and a wide propaganda of these facts inside Azerbaijan.
