40,000 AZERI IDPs TO HAVE HOUSES IN 2006

The international organizations hope by late 2006 over 40,000 refugees and IDPs, settled in refugee camps of Azerbaijan will be provided with dwelling, Leonid Slutskiy, the vice-chairman of the committee on international affairs of the

Russian State Duma [parliament], also the vice head of the Russian delegation at the PACE, told a news conference held in Baku.

According to the diplomat, a resolution of the social problems of refugees and internally displaced persons is one of the priority directions of Azerbaijani government’s policy and international instances hope in the settlement of the problem in the near future.

Speaking on the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, Slutskoy noted that the high-ranking delegation of international observers target proclaiming the elections as undemocratic. В"The resolution by PACE is based on subjective opinions by some parliamentarians who are frequently do not have full idea on the country,В" Lutskoy said. The PACE pursues a policy of dual standard in regard to Russia, Azerbaijan and other post-Soviet countries, he added.
