An earthquake measuring 4.7 Richter scale occurred near the city of Rudbar in the Iranian province of Kerman, the agency FARS reported.

The seismological center of the Geophysics Institute of the Tehran University registered the tremors today at 07:33 local time.

There is no information on casualties or damage. However, the earthquake caused panic among the population, people fled their homes.

The tremors were recorded simultaneously in five provinces of Iran on Sunday. In the province of East Khorasan force of the earthquake was 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale, tremors were also noted in the provinces of Khorasan Rezavi, East Azerbaijan, Bushehr, Sistan and Baluchestan.

An earthquake measuring 6.2 magnitude occurred in the north-west of Iran on Aug. 11. More than 300 people died and about 2,500 were injured.

Roughly 110 of 538 villages were completely or partially destroyed as a result of tremors. About 5,000 buildings were damaged.
