Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu condemned shelling of the Turkish city of Sanlıurfa, the organization said on Thursday.

According to the report, the OIC urges Syria to observe principles of good neighborliness.

At least 5 people were killed in Sanlıurfa province on Wednesday afternoon, when a mortar exploded in the town center. According to Turkish electron media outlets, Syrian government army fired at the city.

In response to the shelling Turkey bombed the site in Syrian territory, from where the fire opened. NATO and the UN demanded from Syria to immediately cease all acts of aggression against Turkey. Syrian authorities expressed their condolences to the families of the dead and began investigating the incident.

In mid-September, a few houses in Turkey have already suffered from Syrian shells. Three people were injured then.
