At least 14 people died in a panicked crush in a mosque in north-western China, according to state media, dpa reported.
Another ten people were injured, the news agency Xinhua reported early Monday. Four of the injured had life-threatening injuries.
The accident happened Sunday afternoon in the town of Guyan City, in the autonomous region of Ningxia, home to many members of the Muslim Hui minority.
It was not clear why the panic broke out, during the hand-out of traditional religious food during an event that celebrated a religious figure.
