Turkish Air Forces attacked Al-Qaeda fighters in Syria in response to mortar fire, Turkish General Staff said, Turkish Sabah newspaper reported on Jan. 9.

Al-Qaeda fighters based in Syria fired on the border town of Akchakale in Shanliurfa province this morning, according to the information.

No casualties were reported as a result of the firing of mortars on Turkish territory, according to the newspaper.
