Civilians in several districts of Turkey's Istanbul city have suffered from the tear gas used against the May Day marchers in the country, Turkish Milliyet newspaper reported on May 1.

Three children are among those affected by the tear gas.

May Day marches are being held in Turkey on May 1. The Istanbul police blocked all the approaches to Taksim Square in the morning.

Previously, it was reported that clashes broke out between the police and May Day marchers in Istanbul city.

The marchers hurled stones and firebombs at the police and the latter used tear gas against them.
