A mass murder was committed on the night of October 1 in the Goranboy district of Azerbaijan.
The senior investigator of the Goranboy district prosecutor's office Firdovsi Valiyev told Kepez TV channel that the reason behind the mass murder was a meeting of the suspect Rafiq Huseynov's second wife Sudaba Mammadova with her cousin at a funeral.
The spouses had a brawl in this regard, and Sudaba Mamedova moved to her father's house, the senior investigator said.
On Oct. 1, at 5 o'clock in the morning (UTC/GMT +5 hours) Rafiq Huseynov stormed the house of the district's resident Dilazbar Mammadova.
He then, as a result of family conflict, killed his wife Sudaba, his brother-in-law Namig, Ofelia Mammadova, Hayavet Mammadova, Fargana Mammadova, a minor Isa Mammadov, and Dilazbar Mammadova.
Huseynov first shot from a hunting rifle at his brothers-in-law Natig Mammadov and Namig Mammadov.
He also used an F1 grenade, and fired eight or nine times at other relatives who hearing the noises came to incident site.
Seven people were killed in the incident, while two persons were left wounded.
Rafiq Huseynov voluntarily surrendered to the law enforcement authorities.
