The fourth World Congress of News Agencies will be held in 2013 in Saudi Arabia. This statement was made on Oct. 22 at the close of the third World Congress of News Agencies (WCNA), which has been held from Oct. 19 in the Argentine capital and the city of San Carlos de Bariloche.

Director-General of the Saudi Information Agency Abdullah Alhussain in his speech stressed the importance of ongoing discussions at the congress of leaders of the information sphere worldwide and invited to conduct next discussions in Saudi Arabia after three years.

The four-day discussions within the third World Congress completed with shifting the presidency of the WCNA Council from the Spanish EFE news agency to the Argentine TELAM news agency. It was decided to prepare a draft statut of WCNA by the next Congress so that the congress of leaders of the world news agencies could operate on the basis of the statute. It is also proposed to hold WCNA every two years instead of three years, as it was until now.

The first WCNA was held in 2004 in Moscow, the second - in 2007 in the Spanish town of Estepona. This year the Congress was attended by 166 representatives of leading news agencies from 76 countries worldwide. The Congress was also attended by international cooperation director of the Azerbaijani-based Trend International News Agency, Elchin Huseynov.
