Turkmenistan regards "Russia as a reliable strategic partner, with which intends to continue to develop constructive, traditionally friendly relations that gain a new level today," Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov said at the meeting with Russian First Vice Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov.

Zubkov conveyed greetings of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, and affirmed "Russia's commitment to the full cooperation with Turkmenistan", the Altin Asir national television channel reported.

Naming the fuel and energy sector as a high priority sector for the cooperation, the sides stressed the importance of diversification of the trade-economic partnership. The sides also named transportation, communications, agriculture, tourism and others among the priority areas.

The meeting also noted that "Russia's business circles express their desire to expand their presence in the promising Turkmen market", and mulled the question of holding a joint Innovation Forum in Ashgabat in 2011.
