The Musavat Party has been deceiving society for 20 years, Azadlig Party Chairman Ahmad Oruj told Trend.

The Musavat Party did not invite the Classical Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (CPFPA), which was previously considered to be an ally, to a meeting on Feb.19.

"They did not invite to their events not only the CPFPA, but also those who for sometime served as a functionary of the party - Ibrahim Ibrahimli, Adil Geybulla and others," Oruj said.

He added that the Musavat leadership has proven to have a "strange complex" recently.

"They look very condescendingly on others, trying to impress (everyone)," he said.

Oruj stressed that he was not invited to the event due to his critical remarks about Musavat.

"I said they are bulling and deceiving society for 20 years. I guess they did not want to hear these words on their anniversary," Oruj said.

Assistant to Musavat Party Chairman Tofiq Yagublu reacted to Oruj's statements, telling Trend that the party did not send special invitations to anyone while organizing the event.

"Musavat supporters were invited to the event through the press. Others were invited by the party leader at a meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Public Chamber, "Yagublu said.

The Musavat Party marked its 100th anniversary on Feb.19.

Musavat Party was established in October 1911 in Baku. On May 28, 1918 in Tbilisi, together with several other parties, Musavat announced Azerbaijan's independence. Due to Azerbaijan's occupation by the Red Army in 1920, Musavat moved its activities underground. The party was relaunched on Nov. 7, 1992. Gambar was elected as the party chief. Musavat party is the center-right.
