The State Migration Service (SMS) of Azerbaijan expelled more than ten thousand foreigners from the country in 2011.
Violations of administrative law by 12 530 foreigners are revealed as a result of measures undertaken over the past year, chairmen of service Arzu Rahimov said in a speech at a meeting of the SMS on the results of 2011.
Decisions have been taken to expel 8058 foreigners from the country within 48 hours in accordance with the requirements of the Administrative Code, to expel 2004 foreigners from the country in an administrative procedure and on 130 other cases (removal of the prohibition on entry into country, the loss of identity, allowing a temporary and permanent residence, the imposition of fines on businesses who have committed administrative violations).
Residence of 2338 foreigners was legalized with regard to the presented grounds.
Last year, the SMS received 41 801 application of foreigners and individuals without citizenship for the extension of temporary stay in the country, obtain a permit for permanent or temporary residence, 12 450 applications for obtaining an individual permit in order to work or extension of existing permit; 307 application for receiving, deprivation and restoration of citizenship, 6740 application for the definition of the relationship to citizenship, and 41 application for obtaining refugee status, Rahimov said.
Rahimov said, all applications were considered on an individual basis in accordance with the law, and the appropriate decisions were taken on them.
