Azerbaijan, Baku, July 9 / Trend M. Aliyev /

Turkmenistan has not sent any proposals or official note on the 'Kapaz' field to Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov told media today.

In accordance with the agreement between the Azerbaijani and Turkmen presidents in 2008, no activity will be conducted in connection with the exploration and production in the territories intersecting the bottom of the Azerbaijani and Turkmen sectors until the issues related to delimitation of the Caspian Sea are agreed upon.

However, Turkmenistan conducted earlier research in the Kapaz field (in the Turkmen interpretation - Saradar). In this regard the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry expressed protest to Turkmenistan.

In turn, Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry said earlier that on June 16, 2012, Turkmenistan officially, including by sending a diplomatic note to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, had expressed strong protest on this issue to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan has repeatedly made proposals to achieve an agreement with Turkmenistan, as was previously the case between Russia and Kazakhstan, Mammadyarov noted.

"This mechanism has also been proposed to Iran," he said. "We believe that the agreement reached by the three littoral states (Azerbaijan, Russia and Kazakhstan) will be achieved by two other countries of the Caspian region."
