The video spread by former Azerbaijani University rector Elshad Abdullayev in connection with MP Gular Ahmadova is being investigated by the prosecution bodies, Head of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department, Ali Hasanov told Trend today.

"No one in the society doubts the authenticity of the video, which means this footage has been actually shot," Hasanov said.

"After the investigation on whether the video has been edited or not is finished, the measures in accordance with the requirements of Azerbaijani laws will be undertaken. There will be no favors. We express no attitude not because someone is a ruling party member, a relative, or a close person of someone. The fundamentals of Azerbaijani power have been laid by the national leader on the basis of the laws. The legislation in Azerbaijan is on the basis of each person's norm of behavior. Anyone who breaks the law must be punished," Hasanov said.

On September 25, video with former Azerbaijani University rector Elshad Abdullayev and MP Gular Ahmadova was spread by the online media outlets. The video shows Abdullayev and Ahmadova discussing the sum of money that reportedly has been neede for Abdullayev to become a member of the parliament.

Ali Hasanov said that it is necessary to wait for the necessary tests to be finished.

"The opposition should not think it can use these incidents against the authorities. Even if the opposition does think about, it is groundless, as Azerbaijani authorities have always implemented transparent governance. It is illogical to blame the authorities for someone's actions," Hasanov noted.

No society, including the one of Azerbaijan, is safe from people willing to raise money in some way, and use it to come to power. However, the suppression of these actions means that the authorities do not share the position of such people, and they will be punished, Hasanov said, adding that the resonance in this case is natural.

"It has been awaited, given the fact that one of the sides was the founder and rector of the University, and the other - a deputy, and a member of the ruling party," he said. "However it is regrettable that regardless of the fact, some opposition circles in Azerbaijan, individuals who are looking for such opportunities, try to use them against the authorities and President Aliyev's team."

Hasanov underscored that these people are willing to do everything they can, using all opportunities, their intellect, surrounding people, supervised media, international and domestic relations.

"They want to use it against the authorities, even if it means going anti-state and anti-national," Hasanov said.

According to Hasanov, in principle, this issue is of ordinary nature, one of the daily events of authorities.

"In all times and in all regimes, there were such people as Elshad Abdullayev, people who wanted to gain wealth by using different unjust methods, and sometimes such people have succeeded.

"By the unjustly gained wealth and by someone's intermediation they wanted to gain a position, to be presented in some powerful structure. There were also others, who wanted to gain their money. These people were also exposed and punished. There were such cases in the past, there are some now and there will be in Azerbaijani society," Hasanov said.

Hasanov said that it is a mistake to believe that President Aliyev's team is responsible for the actions of the nine million people in Azerbaijan.

"The power cannot be shaken by such cases. We did not allow it in the past, do not allow it now, and will not allow such people as Elshad Abdullayev to to hold positions in the future," Hasanov underscored.
