Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 11 / Trend E. Mehdiyev /

The issue of expelling former MP Gular Ahmadova from the ruling New Azerbaijan Party can be considered, deputy executive secretary of the ruling party, MP Mubariz Gurbanli told Trend today.

"Gular Ahmadova is an ordinary member of the Yasamal district organisation of the ruling party," he said. "She is not a member of the Political Council and has no official position in the regional organisation. Therefore, the issue of expelling her from the party may be considered at a primary party organisation and perhaps it will be considered."

The video with former Azerbaijani University rector Elshad Abdullayev and MP Gular Ahmadova was spread by online media outlets on September 25.

Abdullayev gave a large sum of money to Gular Ahmadova to become elected as a member of parliament. The Baku City Prosecutor's Office has filed a criminal case under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code in this regard. An investigation is underway.
