Bilateral consultations between Azerbaijan and Russia on Caspian Sea issues took place in Russian Foreign Ministry , the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry press service reported on Monday.

Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov and a delegation, headed by a special representative of the President of Russia on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border with the neighboring countries-participants of the CIS, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Minister Igor Bratchikov took part in consultations.

The statements of Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea project, a number of important issues on implementation of protocol, adopted at the summit of Caspian states, held in Baku on November 18 2010, and some other issues were discussed at the meeting. The parties have exchanged opinions on the upcoming summit, noted importance of bilateral consultations on the status of Caspian sea and emphasized importance of their continuation.

Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov also met with State Secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry Grigory Karasin. Various aspects of bilateral relations were discussed at the meeting, the parties exchanged opinions on regional issues of mutual interest.
