Ambassador: Azerbaijan, South Korea to discuss possibility of military cooperation

The cooperation between Azerbaijan and Korea in the political, economic and cultural spheres continues to develop at a high level, the newly appointed Ambassador of Korea to Azerbaijan Choi Suk-Yin said on Thursday.

The cooperation between Azerbaijan and Korea in the political, economic and cultural spheres continues to develop at a high level, the newly appointed Ambassador of Korea to Azerbaijan Choi Suk-Yin said on Thursday.

Noting the mutual visits by officials of both countries, the ambassador said that the relevant structures of the governments regularly conduct discussions on enhancing cooperation.

Recalling that the two countries have signed 40 documents, the ambassador said that the documents have opened the way for broad cooperation between the two countries.

He also noted that the two countries are currently engaged in discussions on the development of cooperation in the field of defense.

He noted that military attaché was appointed at the Azerbaijani embassy in Korea, and the appointment of the military attache at the Embassy of Korea in Azerbaijan will give impetus to the development of cooperation in this sphere.

Touching upon the economic relations, the ambassador said that the trade turnover between the countries reached $650 million. He added that Korea mainly supplies cars and electronic equipment to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan exports oil, aluminum and copper products to Korea.

Korean companies are also effectively cooperating with Azerbaijan. They have invested $150 million in Azerbaijan since 2008.
