At the final meeting of its fall session on Friday, the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament) issued an address in honor of World Azerbaijani Solidarity Day, which congratulated all Azerbaijani people on this auspicious occasion.

"Tens of millions of Azerbaijanis living around the world are more and more imbued with the idea of ​​unity. Relations are improving between our diaspora and communities; our people are supporting each other in the protection of national rights and in the strengthening of ties with their historical homeland," the statement says.

From a historical point of view, considering Azerbaijan's attainment of its current level of dynamic economic development and the construction of Azerbaijan's constitutional democratic state and civil society into what they are today, Azerbaijan has made an entire era's worth of progress in a short period of time.

Stressing the reliable provision of human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan and the increase of the country's prestige in Europe, the statement noted that large-scale reforms continue to enhance the market economy in Azerbaijan,

MPs called on the Azerbaijani people to unite in the name of national goals and interests.

Parliamentary Speaker Oktay Asadov said that 21 meetings were held and 253 laws were adopted during the parliament's fall session. Some 297 visits were made to 44 countries during the year. Deputies took part in presidential elections in four countries and parliamentary elections in seven countries. The Azerbaijani parliament received 1,091 foreign delegations and five international parliamentary events were held.
