Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 29 / Trend M. Aliyev /

Thanks to patriotism, activity, strength and power, Azerbaijani youth will ensure a successful future for their country, deputy chairman and executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan party (NAP) Ali Ahmedov said at a meeting of the NAP Youth Union, dedicated to Youth Day to be celebrated on February 2.

He said Azerbaijani youth plays an important role in the social and political life of the country, demonstrating political activity.

"Azerbaijani youth has a bright future because well-educated young people are able to react immediately and highly regard events. This is the result of the conditions created for Azerbaijani youth by our government, the result of policy, the foundations of which were laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev and are successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev," Ahmedov said.

He said most of the NAP members numbering 600,000 are young who show activity in order to further strengthen the role of the party in society.

Noting that 2013 is a year of presidential election, Ali Ahmedov said that young people will make a contribution in ensuring the activity of NAP, promoting the value of the presidential election for the future of Azerbaijan.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Intigam Babayev said that a generation of Azerbaijani young people has been formed today who are actively involved in strengthening the power of the country and adequately represent Azerbaijan in the international arena.

He also stressed implementation of various projects by representatives of Azerbaijani youth stressing that the state programme was adopted in this field.

According to the chairman of the Great Silk Way international youth organisation, MP Fuad Muradov, extensive work is vested to Azerbaijani youth today on the preservation of Azerbaijan's independence and strengthening of statehood.

"As a rapidly developing country, today we have a lot of enemies. Azerbaijan has an unsolved problem, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Therefore youth should be vigilant," he said.

Muradov noted that Azerbaijani youth is particularly active in international organisations.

"Azerbaijan implements projects related to youth and organises major international events. In the early '90s, young people had no facilities for this, whereas today there are all necessary conditions," he said.

At the end of the event NAP activists were awarded honorary diplomas.
